Good News

I just got an email from the person who gives all of us Marine wives the 411 on our guys. Our Banner making party is scheduled! If you've ever watched Operation Homecoming or are in an area where you can watch the news airing war homecomings then you know what I'm talking about. Take hundreds of yards of butcher paper, add some paint, a bunch of giddy women and kids hyped up on sugar and make your Marine a poster he'll be proud of, to display on the garage announcing his homecoming. We also have the Reunion Brief scheduled. Doesn't that sound so military like? Brief. So official. We all sit in a giant room while various people stand up in front of us with a PowerPoint presentation of things to expect when the guys come home. The last time I attended one of these we were told a bunch of strange things that could happen. Fighting. Elation. The men needing to sleep on the ground because they weren't sleeping in beds while over there (this has since changed, thankfully). The guys being upset that their wives don't "need" them anymore since we've basically become the mother/father/everything else to everyone else. Nightmares (war flashbacks). Violent outbursts. A bunch of fun stuff. The women don't really hear this though. They hear, "Your husband blah blah blah blah, blah is coming home blah blah blah in three weeks." We still don't have a flight date for Bill's homecoming but it's roughly around October 1st. The fact that these two events are scheduled makes me oh so very happy! Of course we'll all be keeping you in our prayers for safety and such but it looks like there's finally a light at the end of this long tunnel.

Memo from the management:
Due to budget constraints and the unexpected increase in morale it has caused, the light at the end of the tunnel has been temporarily turned off.
Just kidding! I'm soooo looking forward to seeing your banner, PJ!

Oooh...the countdown is getting exciting! Be sure and take pics of the banner and you can post them when Bill isn't looking!
